Christoph Schilz

Between Processes and Resources – New Managing Director of MBS in Cologne

Above all, however, Christoph Schilz is passionate about logistics and has been the new Managing Director of MBS Logistics in Cologne alongside Jürgen Steckel since 10th of January.

Logistics offers an extensive field of business in which there are always challenges to efficiently manage and optimise global, international and national supply chains,” explains Christoph Schilz (44 year old, born in Saarland). “At the same time, logistics provides an extensive view into the structures and requirements of the various industries and customers, with the aim to create a seamless supply chain organisation across markets and continents.”

After his apprenticeship in Saarland, he found his way to Essen via Mannheim, Bremen and Duisburg. In Essen he worked for a large logistics company, first as a branch manager and finally as a member of the management board responsible for the logistics division. At last – as Head of Strategy – he was responsible for the strategic development and business expansion in the areas of Warehousing and Contract Logistics.

After 13 successful years in Essen, Christoph Schilz is now moving to MBS. “From my point of view, the extensive service portfolio as well as the overall global orientation of the MBS Group in the economically strong countries enables enormous potential for further growth in the long term. Therefore, uniform corporate strategies and close customer relationships must be used to establish further business areas such as E-commerce Logistics as well as Warehouse Management on the one hand and to integrate sustainable overall solutions, i.e. the reduction of the CO2 footprint, by implementing new technologies on the other hand. Based on this, the MBS Group offers the best prerequisites to implement this together with a dynamic team, explains Christoph Schilz his decision for accepting the new challenge.

Christoph Schilz is looking forward to developing solutions and transparent processes together with his team, which will guarantee the success and growth of the MBS Group in the long term.

The topic of human resources is also a key issue for him: “We are working on efficient business processes in each division, so we are able to remain successful in a highly competitive labour market. Good staff will be the important key to our success.”

He has planned a lot for the first 100 days: Familiarisation with the business areas including analysis and definition of the current situation is, of course, a basic requirement. But I also want to quickly establish and document the first standard processes in order to achieve permanent stability, especially due to the rapidly changing requirements of the COVID pandemic.”

With Christoph Schilz, MBS in Cologne has been able to gain an experienced logistics expert with proven strategy expertise: “We are pleased that our management in Cologne is now complete again and that Mr Schilz will set new impulses with a fresh eye and bring decisive processes forward,” explains Daniel Steckel, Managing Director of MBS Speditionsgesellschaft.
