From Pumps to Trainers: Ensuring safe delivery for 18 million pairs of shoes
Challenge
Given the sheer volume and the complex demands of consolidating goods from countries like Turkey, Italy, Spain, Portugal, and Poland, the retailer required a flexible logistics solution. This needed to ensure the swift and precise delivery of products to distribution centres (DCs) in Germany, Austria, Switzerland, the Netherlands, and Romania. Additionally, it was essential to optimise freight costs by utilising consolidation and call-off warehouses in origin countries. The system also had to be adaptable to support rapid business growth, including the initial stocking of newly opened stores across mainland Europe and various islands.
Solution
Since 1996, MBS Logistics has worked closely with the retailer to develop and continuously refine a comprehensive sourcing logistics concept aligned with the retailer’s strategic goals. Centralised purchase-order management and tracking are managed through MBS’s tailored “Perfect Supply” system, fully integrated with the retailer’s enterprise resource planning (ERP) system to provide seamless end-to-end transparency. Goods are consolidated in partner warehouses or collected via “milk runs” in key sourcing countries, prepared for multi-stop deliveries with optimised loading. With flexible prioritisation and fixed year-round pricing per item, MBS offers the retailer a cost-efficient, predictable solution.
Result
This bespoke logistics approach allows the retailer to reliably and punctually supply its European stores and distribution centres, supported by the daily commitment of MBS’s expert team, their know-how, and precise data transfers. Regular process optimisations, along with frequent visits to distribution centres and suppliers, contribute to ongoing efficiency improvements. “Perfect Supply” has proven so successful that it’s now employed for additional clients and is continually enhanced.
