The MBS Logistics Group as appointed Axel Hinz as Managing Director for its offices in the greater Hamburg area, effective immediately. In his new role, Hinz will lead the strategic development of the MBS branches in Hamburg and Norderstedt. At the same time he will leverage his sea freight expertise to support the global management team in enhancing this product across the MBS Group.
An industry veteran, Hinz brings more than 35 years of experience in the logistics sector, with a strong track record in air and ocean freight. He has held leadership positions at several European logistics companies, including JCL Logistics, Rhenus, Geis Group and Damco. He takes over from his predecessor Arne Lorenzen, who will retire after 15 years as Managing Director for the offices in northern Germany.

In addition to driving the growth of MBS activities in the Hamburg area, Hinz’s experience is also anticipated to play a crucial role in advancing innovative ocean freight solutions throughout the entire MBS Group. He will support the Group in further optimising its ocean freight procurement strategies, ensuring continued success amidst fluctuating market conditions.

Hinz’s appointment follows a series of strategic growth moves at MBS, including the expansion of the executive team to include Joerg Roehl at the beginning of 2023 and the opening of the Group’s first branch in Switzerland later the same year.
